Why You Cannot Flip On TikTok’s New Q&A Function: Defined

TikTok offers users the option to activate a new Q&A feature on the app, but not everyone is eligible and there are a number of reasons for that.

Tick tock has a Q&A feature that can be a useful way to answer questions from followers. However, it is not automatically available to all users of the platform. For this reason, many will find that they cannot even see or even activate the function in the app. Here are some of the reasons a TikTok user cannot see or turn on Q&A.

TikTok is an extremely popular app and service. With so many users, it’s beneficial to have access to additional opportunities to connect with others. Over the course of 2020, TikTok added a number of features designed to improve the community experience when using the app. However, as part of this community, TikTok makes a clear distinction between general users and creators. This can affect the features available to some users.

TikTok’s new Q&A feature is designed for developers. This is not just a distinction based on whether or not a user has ever uploaded a video, but whether their account is set to a creation account. TikTok users who haven’t set their account as creator will almost certainly not see an option to enable questions and answers. Creating a creator account is free and only requires the user to change the status through the settings. The option is under “Switch to Pro Account” in the “Manage My Account” section of Settings.

In addition to hiring a TikTok account as the creator, it must also be public. Currently, TikTok does not allow users to activate the Q&A feature if their account is set to private. Similar to switching to a creator account, switching from private to public is easy via the app settings. First tap the Me button, then tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner. After that, the option to enable (or disable) the private account is in the Privacy section.

Even if a TikTok account is set to Creator and Public, there could be a number of reasons why the option to enable Questions and Answers is not available. One of the most common is the popularity of the account. Since the Q&A function aims to improve the interaction between the creators and their target groups, the service has set certain minimum requirements. Essentially, developers need more than 10,000 followers, and their videos must have had more than 10,000 views in the last thirty days. If a TikTok user does not meet all of the requirements listed above, the option to enable Questions and Answers will not appear in the app.
