The hashtag “Black TikTok Strike” is enjoying increasing popularity on the platform. Several creators joined the trend, refusing to do a viral dance to Meghan Thee Stallion’s song Thot Sh * t. close.

It did so two months after Addison Rae’s segment on Jimmy Fallon attracted backlash for failing to pay tribute to the creators behind the viral TikTok dance trends. Although Jimmy tried to correct his mistakes, it looks like several content creators are still unhappy with the situation on the platform. That’s why they decided to take matters into their own hands.

What is “Black TikTok Strike”?

The hashtag “Black TikTok Strike” or simply “TikTok Strike” is used by black content creators who are demanding that their content be recognized and their talent recognized.

Because of this, none of the creators are choreographing a new dance trend. In fact, Megan recently released her song Thot Sh * t. Many expected the catchy song to become the next viral TikTok dance trend. However, since people are on creative strike, no dance has been choreographed.

This drama dates back to Addison’s appearance on Jimmy Fallon. Addison was called in after showcasing some of TikTok’s most popular dance trends. People slammed the segment because it didn’t do justice to the black content creators who were behind the choreography.

Even months after the incident, the creators feel that nothing has changed. For this reason, they launched the “Black TikTok Strike” trend. In the video, the creators sit still while the sound of “Victoria Story” is played in the background.

In the audio it says: “I think it is high time we let black women become famous with the bare essentials in this app. As if I should be able to just sit here in silence and let you all look at me and next I have a million followers. “
