Vile April 24 Nationwide Rape Day hoax sweeping TikTok as social media platform points assertion
A joke is circulating on Tik Tok and other social media platforms suggesting that April 24th is “National Rape Day”.
A warning to Tik Tok told followers, “This is a video told on TikTok by disgusting men – rapists, child molesters, predators, just disgusting people – and they literally came up with a date to rape women and children .
“You literally heard me right: women and children.”
“If someone has plans on April 24th, don’t go out !!!! There are men who are planning a national RAPE DAY STAY INSIDE !!!! ”Reads a picture shared on Facebook.
One Twitter user wrote: “If I see or hear any of my boys or anyone joking about April 24th, it comes in handy.”
“That’s not funny.”

But how did the sick joke start?
According to CrowdTangle, there are more than 1,000 Facebook posts and almost 50 Instagram posts on “National Rape Day” this week.
Know Your Meme reports: “Jokes and posts about a“ National Rape Day ”date back to at least 2010 on Twitter, although no one specifically mentions April 24th or claims the day is a real, practiced thing, even more if you look at it Expression for comedic uses shock value. ”
TikTok has stated that such a video cannot be published. A spokesman told USA Today that it had found “no evidence” of this original video on the platform.
On tik Tok this week, # april24 had more than 31.1 million views and over a thousand videos at the time of publication.
