TikTok mum reveals how all Aussies retailer buying baggage
A mom went viral on TikTok after organizing her reusable shopping bags with a popular folding hack – but some say there’s a problem with the method.
Adelaide mom of two Emmy Rachelle shared a video on TikTok showing how she kept her reusable Woolworths bags on the side of her fridge, claiming most of us would.
“Every Aussie piles their bags on the side of the fridge,” she said. “I don’t make the rules.”
But worried that the bags might pose a fire hazard, Emmy decided to pull them out and store them elsewhere, revealing the “technical” way she had folded the bags.

She folded the bag up in quarters and then lengthways in triangles before inserting the last triangle into the folded section, omitting the handle, with the result “very satisfactory”.
“These are going to live in my car now, which hopefully will force me to use them, but the Aussie in me will likely stack more bags back there (besides my fridge),” Emmy said.
Emmy’s TikTok video has been viewed more than 168,000 times, but some supermarket employees said they didn’t like the folding method because it made their work at the checkout difficult.
“As a checkout chick, I hate having to open the plastic when they’re folded like that, but a great space-saving hack,” wrote one person.

“Please unfold it yourself when you get to the cash register,” said a bystander.
“As a treasurer, I hate the bags folded like that. It’s a pain to undo, ”commented another.
In response, Emmy said that she “flipped the piece that is tucked in and shook it” to “quickly” open the bags at the checkout.
Meanwhile, others debated whether the side of the refrigerator was the true “Aussie” way to store reusable bags.
“We always have a bag full of other bags in the wash … I thought it was Aussie,” said one.
“If you don’t put them under the sink, you’re not an Aussie,” insisted another.
