TikTok customers are freaking out over a ‘game-changing’ secret Netflix characteristic: ‘Thank me later’

TikTok users make fun of a new hack to watch every true crime documentary on Netflix.

All of this is thanks to Netflix’s “secret codes” that users can use to search for hyper-specific genres such as “Showbiz Dramas” or “Alien Sci-Fi”. All you have to do is enter a few numbers into the app’s search function.

The codes used to go viral online – mainly because a lot of people still don’t know they exist – but now they’re back. It’s all thanks to a video made by TikTok user Laura Lindsay.

In Lindsay’s clip, she reveals her “Netflix hack” to find real crime documentaries in the app. Of course, this hack enters the code (9875) that calls them all at once.

“Every single documentary,” says Lindsay’s caption. “Thank me later.”

Many TikTok users have been overwhelmed by the trick – either because they didn’t know about the codes or because, like so many of us, they have an unhealthy obsession with true crime.

“This is a game changer,” wrote one user.

“You just made my life better,” added another.

“I love it,” wrote another.

Others weren’t that impressed. Some users complained that Lindsay’s “hack” wasn’t actually a hack – a common complaint among TikTok commentators. Those on board took the opportunity to share some of their other favorite codes.

The codes are all available online, and some helpful websites – like the aptly named NetflixCodes.com – have compiled a list. To find the codes you want, all you have to do is go to Netflix’s search function and then enter the number of the genre you want.
