TikTok companions with BBL to showcase #BritishBasketball

TikTok today teamed up with the British Basketball League and Basketball England to launch the hashtag challenge #BritishBasketball and showcase the very best in British basketball.

In the UK’s first basketball-focused campaign on TikTok, BBL and Basketball England invite basketball enthusiasts to share their best basketball tricks, skills and content on TikTok. TikTok Creators have access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content from professional clubs such as Sheffield Sharks, Leicester Riders, London Lions, Glasgow Rocks, Plymouth Raiders, Bristol Flyers and Surrey Scorchers.

“Our team used TikTok to bring basketball content to new audiences and we were encouraged to get a great response,” said Anthony Jepson, director of marketing and communications for Basketball England.

“We are very excited to be working with TikTok to introduce #BritishBasketball and the talent of the BBL to people in the UK and around the world. TikTok offers us and our clubs a unique and direct way to share with our fans and communities, from the hustle and bustle of training to the thrill of match day. We also loved watching great basketball content shared by fans and developers across the basketball community and can’t wait to see what they share on the hashtag to celebrate the sport we do love! “Said Selina Conroy, communications director for the British Basketball League

Professional players like Mike Tuck, Jamell Anderson and Tayo Ogedengbe will also share exclusive content to highlight what it is like to be a professional basketball player in the UK.

“We see great videos shared by fans, content creators and teams across the sport and we would encourage anyone who loves the game in the UK, whether it’s the NBL, BBL, the national teams or emerging young talent, to use the hashtag to celebrate it, ”Jepson said.

With more than 31 billion video views, #basketball has cemented itself as one of the most popular sports on TikTok and #BritishBasketball is on the rise as numerous BBL clubs join the platform.
