According to Instagram officials, the update responds to user requests and enables creators to align Trial Reels with optimal engagement times based on platform insights.

The scheduling feature for Trial Reels lets creators set future publication times up to 30 days in advance, with a daily limit of 25 posts for public accounts, according to Instagram officials. Creators first create a Reel and select the Trial option during the publishing flow before scheduling the post. Trial Reels are initially shown to non-followers to gather feedback and performance data, with the option to automatically share the Reel with all followers within 72 hours if it performs well, sources confirmed.

According to Instagram reports from June 2025, 40% of creators who used Trial Reels increased their posting frequency afterward, and the feature contributed to an 80% increase in reach among non-followers.

Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri noted in November 2025 that the update was a direct response to user requests for more control over when Trial Reels are published. The scheduling capability integrates Trial Reels into Instagram’s existing content scheduling tools, enabling creators to align their posts with optimal engagement times based on platform insights. This allows for testing content during historically low engagement periods or new time slots, helping creators optimize reach and engagement.

The ability to schedule Trial Reels supports creators in managing content calendars, approval processes, and pre-launch experiments without needing to post manually in real time, officials said.

Scheduling Trial Reels is currently available only to public accounts with at least 1,000 followers, and the rollout varies by account, device, and app version. Third-party scheduling tools such as Metricool support Trial Reel scheduling once creators reach the 1,000-follower threshold, with users able to select the “Trial Reel” format under Instagram in the planner, sources noted. However, collaborators cannot be added to Trial Reels, and availability is controlled by Instagram rather than third-party platforms.

Creators can use the feature to conduct geo-specific testing for multinational audiences or campaigns, aligning posts with regional engagement peaks. Instagram’s insights provide data to refine posting strategies after trials, allowing creators to compare identical Reels posted at different times to assess performance. When upgrading a Trial Reel to the main profile grid, the post is dated to the original trial publication time, not the upgrade time, according to platform guidelines.

The scheduling update supports creators in gathering audience feedback by sharing Trial Reels with users who do not follow them, a feature launched in December 2024. Instagram introduced Trial Reels to help creators test new content ideas and measure performance outside their follower base. Mosseri explained that this approach enables creators to optimize content reach and engagement by sampling a wider audience.

The rollout of the scheduling feature continues, with Instagram gradually enabling access across different user segments. Creators are encouraged to schedule Trial Reels one to two days ahead of planned grid placement to accommodate the 48-72 hour review period before upgrading. The “Share with everyone automatically” option can be used for high-performing Trial Reels within the first 72 hours to maximize exposure.

Overall, the scheduling feature builds on Instagram’s efforts to enhance creator tools by providing more flexibility and data-driven insights. The platform continues to refine Trial Reels based on user feedback and engagement metrics to support content strategy and audience growth.

According to Meta officials, the move aimed to prioritize original creators by limiting the reach of accounts that repost aggregated content.

The policy change announced by Instagram on April 30, 2026, targets accounts that primarily repost content created by others, commonly known as content aggregators. Meta officials said the platform will reduce the visibility of such accounts in users’ feeds and search results to encourage original content creation. According to a statement from Meta’s communications team, the enforcement of this policy began immediately and applies globally.

Meta representatives explained that the platform uses a combination of automated detection tools and manual reviews to flag accounts that violate the new guidelines.

Instagram’s crackdown involves algorithmic adjustments designed to identify and limit the reach of accounts that rely heavily on aggregated content without adding original commentary or creative input. The company did not disclose specific metrics on how many accounts had been affected or removed since the policy’s implementation.

The announcement followed growing criticism from original creators who argued that aggregator accounts were profiting from their work without proper credit or compensation. Meta officials said the new measures aim to restore balance by promoting authentic content and rewarding creators who produce unique material. According to Meta, this shift aligns with broader industry trends emphasizing creator monetization and platform sustainability.

While Instagram has long grappled with content aggregation issues, the April 2026 update marks a significant change in enforcement strategy. Previously, the platform issued warnings or removed individual posts, but the current approach targets entire accounts based on their overall content practices. Meta’s head of product for Instagram, Priya Desai, stated in a press briefing that the company is committed to supporting creators by fostering an environment that values originality.

Industry analysts noted that Instagram’s crackdown could lead to shifts in how creators and aggregators operate on the platform. However, no comprehensive data on the policy’s impact on user engagement or account growth was available at the time of the announcement. Meta has not released detailed statistics on changes in video views, follower counts, or revenue for creators since the policy took effect.

Reactions from creators on Instagram have been mixed, though official responses from major creator advocacy groups have yet to be published. Some independent creators reported an initial decline in reach for accounts that previously shared aggregated content, according to social media monitoring firms. Meta has encouraged creators to focus on original content and use platform tools such as Reels and Stories to increase engagement, according to internal communications shared with select creator partners.

Instagram’s crackdown on content aggregators comes amid broader efforts by Meta to refine content moderation and improve the quality of interactions on its platforms. In recent years, Meta has introduced various features to support creators, including expanded monetization options and enhanced analytics. The company has also faced regulatory scrutiny over content policies and platform transparency, which may have influenced the timing of the new aggregator restrictions.

The policy change is part of Instagram’s ongoing evolution to balance user experience, creator incentives, and platform integrity. Meta officials indicated that enforcement methods will continue to be refined based on feedback and observed outcomes. Future updates are expected as Instagram monitors the effects of the crackdown on content diversity and creator livelihoods.

Background on Instagram’s content aggregation issue dates back several years, with aggregators often accused of diluting original content and complicating copyright enforcement. Prior to April 2026, Instagram’s guidelines discouraged reposting without attribution but lacked robust mechanisms to limit aggregator accounts systematically. The current policy represents a more comprehensive effort to address these challenges at scale. Meta has committed to releasing further guidance and support materials for creators adapting to the new rules in the coming months.

Instagram began rolling out a feature that allows users to reorder photos and videos in carousel posts after publishing, the company announced this week. According to Instagram, the long-requested update lets creators rearrange existing carousel slides using a long-press drag function, providing greater flexibility to adjust content order without republishing.

The new feature allows Instagram users to rearrange photos and videos within carousel posts after they have been published by using a long-press drag function, according to Instagram’s official announcement reported by Social Media Today. This update responds to one of the platform’s most requested features, enabling creators to adjust the order of existing slides without the need to delete and repost the entire carousel, sources confirmed. Instagram described the functionality as providing “flexibility to change the order of your carousel content at any time, ensuring your post always reflects your creative vision,” according to the company’s statement.

Users can access the reordering option by navigating to their profile, selecting the carousel post they wish to modify, tapping the three-dot menu in the top right corner, and choosing “Edit” from the dropdown menu.

Once in edit mode, a long press on any photo or video allows the user to drag it to a new position within the carousel, after which changes can be saved, TechTimes reported in a detailed step-by-step guide dated April 2, 2026. The feature applies exclusively to existing slides; users cannot add new photos or videos to a carousel post through this update, as confirmed by both TechTimes and Social Media Today. While deletion of slides remains possible, the addition of new media requires creating and publishing a new carousel post.

The rollout of the post-publish reordering feature is gradual and availability varies by account, Instagram officials said. Some users may not see the drag option immediately and might need to wait several days, consistent with Instagram’s standard phased update process. Reports from early April 2026 indicate that the feature is being deployed worldwide but with no specified timeline for full availability, according to 9to5Mac and Social Media Today. The latter also noted that the update enhances profile customization without hassle, as confirmed by 9to5Mac’s initial discovery of the feature.

This update is expected to reduce user frustration associated with fixed carousel orders, a common complaint among Instagram creators, according to Instagram’s official communications. By allowing users to rearrange carousel slides post-publication, the feature improves creative control over how images and videos are presented, which can enhance the overall aesthetics of a user’s profile. The process reportedly takes about one minute, simplifying the task of optimizing posts without the need for deletion and reuploading, TechTimes stated.

Despite the new capabilities, the feature does not extend to editing captions or other post elements beyond the order of carousel slides, according to the sources. Instagram continues to limit modifications to the sequence of existing media within carousels, maintaining the original content intact aside from its arrangement. The company has not provided a specific launch date for the update but confirmed its recent rollout through official channels and third-party reports.

Instagram’s introduction of post-publish carousel reordering follows a growing demand from users for more flexible content management tools on the platform. As the functionality becomes more widely available, it may influence how creators and brands manage their visual storytelling on Instagram. The company has not announced any immediate plans to expand the feature’s scope beyond reordering existing slides.

Instagram on Tuesday enabled users worldwide to reorder images and videos in carousel posts after publishing through a long-press drag feature. According to the company, the update allows creators to change the sequence of their carousel content at any time to better reflect their creative vision.

The new feature allows users to rearrange images and videos within carousel posts by long-pressing an item and dragging it to a new position. Instagram officials said this update gives creators more control over how their content is presented on the platform. The company described the functionality as a “long press and drag” editing tool that can be used at any time after a post is published.

“You have the flexibility to change the order of your carousel content at any time, ensuring your post always reflects your creative vision,” the company stated.

According to Instagram, the update addresses a common user frustration with the previous inability to change the order of carousel posts once they were live. Social Media Today reported the announcement on Tuesday, highlighting that carousel reordering was among Instagram’s most requested features.

The reordering capability applies to both images and videos contained within carousel posts, but users cannot add new media to an existing carousel. Instagram officials clarified that adding new photos or videos requires creating and posting a new carousel altogether. The update focuses solely on rearranging the sequence of existing content, with no mention of changes to captions or other post elements.

This feature is designed to improve user experience by giving creators the ability to adjust their posts to better match their intended presentation, even after publication. Instagram did not specify any regional or account-type restrictions on the rollout, indicating the feature is available worldwide. No specific rollout date was provided beyond the announcement on Tuesday.

Historically, Instagram users have expressed dissatisfaction with the platform’s fixed carousel order, which prevented simple post-editing adjustments. Records show that this limitation was a frequent point of feedback from the community, prompting Instagram to prioritize reordering as a key update. The company’s statement acknowledged this history by emphasizing that the new functionality responds directly to user requests.

The update is part of Instagram’s broader efforts to enhance content management tools for creators, allowing greater flexibility and control over their posts. By enabling post-publishing edits to carousel order, Instagram aims to streamline the creative process and reduce the need to delete and repost content to fix sequencing issues.

While the feature enhances carousel post customization, Instagram has not indicated plans to extend editing capabilities to other post components such as captions or hashtags. For now, the reordering tool remains limited to adjusting the order of images and videos within existing carousels.

Instagram announced on Tuesday that it has reduced the hashtag limit for posts and reels captions from 30 to five worldwide. According to Instagram officials, the change aims to improve content relevance and user experience by discouraging spam and emphasizing community-focused engagement.

The change, which applies globally, is part of a gradual rollout announced Tuesday, with users seeing the update on their accounts over time. Instagram head Adam Mosseri explained that the platform aims to shift focus away from what he described as “engagement hacking” tactics, where users overloaded captions with hashtags to artificially boost reach.

The new hashtag limit reduces the previous maximum of 30 hashtags per post or reel caption to five, Instagram officials said.

Instagram’s official statement said the company will “gradually update the number of hashtags that you can include in a caption for a reel or post to five.” This adjustment follows a year-long testing period during which Instagram experimented with limiting some users to as few as three hashtags per post. According to company sources, these trials demonstrated that fewer, more targeted hashtags improve content performance and user experience.

The rationale behind the change centers on enhancing the relevance of content surfaced to users. Instagram officials said that limiting hashtags discourages spam and reduces misuse of generic tags such as #reels or #explore, which provide little benefit for discovery. The platform’s AI-driven recommendation system will now prioritize relevance over volume of hashtags when determining post visibility, officials said. Records show that cleaner captions with fewer hashtags lead to easier navigation and less spam on the platform.

Despite the tighter restrictions, Instagram representatives emphasized that targeted and relevant hashtags remain effective tools for content discovery. Posts are now shown based on user interest and relevance rather than the number of hashtags used, according to Mosseri. He advised creators to select hashtags that “actually count” for optimal visibility, encouraging a focus on building community rather than artificially inflating engagement metrics.

Creators are urged to use fewer, more specific hashtags aligned with their audience’s interests, Instagram sources confirmed. Data from the platform indicates that high-quality, niche tags yield better results than a large volume of generic ones. Instagram’s guidance discourages spammy tactics and recommends prioritizing content that resonates with the intended community.

The previous 30-hashtag limit had been widely used but also enabled caption clutter and spam, according to Instagram’s internal analysis. The experimental phase that tested lower limits was intended to address these issues, with the five-hashtag cap emerging as the settled outcome from these one-year trials. The gradual implementation is designed to ensure a smooth transition for users worldwide.

This move aligns with broader platform trends aimed at improving user experience by curbing misuse of features and emphasizing relevance. Instagram officials said the change reflects the company’s ongoing examination of user behavior and its commitment to AI-driven recommendations across social media. The platform expects the update to improve readability and reduce proliferation of generic tags, fostering smarter hashtag strategies that support long-term creator success.

The hashtag limit reduction follows similar restrictions on other platforms, such as Threads, which limits users to one tag per post. Instagram’s adjustment is part of a wider effort to enhance community engagement and content relevance, according to company sources. The platform will continue monitoring the impact of the change as it completes the rollout globally.

Are you tired of the hassle of getting camera-ready for every Reel you post? Well, today’s your lucky day because we’re diving into the world of creating Instagram Reels without getting on camera, using the voiceover feature!

Wish you could post a Reel without spending all the time and energy it takes to get mentally and physically “camera-ready”? Using the voiceover feature can help you create relevant and valuable posts in a pinch.

Let’s dive into an example of posts we’ve done that are using the voiceover.

Click above to watch this reel.

Notice how we’re using a collection of videos where we’re not talking directly to the camera. This feature can be used by both product and service-based businesses.

Ideas This Will Work For Your Business

Now, let’s explore some ideas that may work for your business with voiceover: You could use it to explain a process, show a day in the life, share your experience, give motivation, explain a misconception about your industry, or provide a business update.

The opportunities are endless! And remember, you can “build a bridge” between what is being shown in the video and what is being said in the voiceover.

So how do you go about creating something like this? We are going to walk you through it!

Step By Step Voiceover Walk Thru

Select a video on your camera that can represent or relate to your business in some way. Consider the intention of your business. What value are you providing to the future viewer? The Intention can be entertainment, inspiration, or education.

Once you decide on the video footage you’re going to use, you can go ahead and click the plus icon on your screen and tap Reel.

Click your photo library on the bottom left of your screen to select the video or video clips that you’ve decided on.

This is where you can trim any of the clips if needed. You can make these kinds of reels short and sweet, or longer depending on your intention.

After trimming (if needed) and clicking Next, select “Edit video” in the bottom left of your screen.

This opens up the video edit screen where you can once again trim your video, add audio, control the volume – and much more. Instagram keeps adding features to Reel editing so definitely look around.

Scroll to the right of the icons at the bottom of the screen until you see Voiceover. Tap it, and use the white button to record your voiceover. It will count down from 3 for you. Make sure you are starting at the beginning of your video (or wherever you want your voice to come in.) Notice how long your video is and make sure you can say everything you plan to say within that time.

You can play back your recording and redo it if needed. Just click the play button to hear how it sounds, and discard it if you want to start over. Make sure if starting the recording over you move the white bar to the beginning of the video to indicate where you want your recording to start playing.

Another PRO tip is to select Volume from the bottom icon screen (right next to the Voiceover icon). This controls the different sounds on your Reel. You can have multiple sounds playing at once, or you can turn your camera audio down so the voiceover is easily heard.

Once you’re happy with your recorded voiceover click Done, and you’ll need to determine your hook and use the text tool to add it. The hook is the first bit of text the audience will see and determines if they’ll want to stick around and watch the video, so it’s super important to include!

Text Tool(arrow)

And if your voiceover is different or includes more than the hook, don’t forget to add captions! A lot of Instagram users watch reels on silent, so you need captions to make sure they stick around for your entire video.

Sticker icon to find captions

Auto captions

Next up is your typical Reel requirements – edit the cover photo – select profile grid where you can decide how your video and hook look in your grid. Then tag people or locations, add a description, and you’re ready to post!

Next Steps

As we said before, the possibilities for this Reel idea are endless. It requires a bit of creativity and practice, but we believe that this is a great option for mixing up your content. It also gives you a different option than always being on camera, speaking to the camera.

Are you looking to take your Instagram content to the next level with smooth transitions that capture attention and engage your audience.

Today, we’re diving into how to use the Align feature on Instagram to create higher-quality Reels.

What is the Align Feature with Examples

So, what’s the big deal with the Align feature? You’ve probably seen it in use. The fun effect that has transitions, change outfits, or incorporate props to make your video more interesting.

Sometimes it’s challenging to get your videos lined up perfectly, especially when recording multiple clips. That’s where the Align feature comes in handy!

Here are some examples we’ve made using this feature:

Click to watch this Reel

Click to watch this Reel

And we’ll be honest, the birthday hats one took us a long time to get right. So many clips! It takes practice to make this feature feel easy. But the outcome is so fun and worth it.

How To Use The Align Feature For Reels

First, open Instagram and create a new Reel. Record your first clip and note where you end the first clip is where you’ll start the second clip but with something changed – like a new outfit, a hat, a coffee mug – maybe a completely new background like you take the first clip inside and the second clip out in the sun…

When you’re ready to start your next clip, you’ll see the Align button is showing up now that you already have a clip recorded. You will have to click on the down arrow to expand the different features on the left side of your Reel.

Once you tap on the Align button, you’ll notice a shadow screen that looks distorted. Don’t worry, this is where the magic happens! The shadow screen helps you line yourself up with where you ended in your first clip.

This ensures that you have smooth transitions between your clips and avoids any weird glitchy cuts that can disrupt the flow of your video. It’s a game-changer for creating professional-looking content on Instagram!

So remember anything creative does take time, and it does take practice.

Click the next button to watch your aligned transition in action, or click the back button to try again!

Next Steps and Free Resource

That’s it for this tutorial, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out in the comments, or in the DMs @theInstagramexpert.

If you make a short Reels, people are more likely to watch the entire video, and re-watch it.

Which means you get more watch time, more views and more retention. Amazing.

How long should the video be?

You can make a video that is between 3 to 8 seconds. It’s usually the sweet spot.

Does it mean you can’t make long videos?

No. You can make longer videos if you feel like it. Just make sure your video is engaging, fun, entertaining, or speaks to your audience (you’ll know exactly what that means for you). Like we talked about in the 2024 Instagram Trends blog post, people love chatty videos too.

But if you want to boost your retention rate, make short Reels.
The post eight Methods Hold Individuals Longer in your Instagram Posts / Account first appeared on DAILY ZSOCIAL MEDIA NEWS.
