The 22-year-old bought the stylish ribbed storage stool and carefully removed the top cushion with a sharp knife to reveal the piece of wood underneath.
The ribbed piece of furniture was then painted off-white and allowed to dry before styling with candles and a book.
“Paint any color you like; I made two, I wanted to use them as bedside tables, ”wrote Simonette in the video.
The Kmart product is sold in two colors – gray and pink – but is currently not available online due to its high popularity.

Hannah Leavey saw the hack too, and using a sample of paint from Bunnings Warehouse, painted the ottoman a bright apple green.
“So I saw this Kmart hack on TikTok and ran to my next Kmart and found the last one in the store,” Hannah said on her video.
