Meet my CEO Morgan
The last eight years of my business have seen a lot of growth and tough choices. But none of this would have been possible without the CEO of my company. Morgan Sutton.
With a background in systems and engineering, Morgan has revised the way the SBZ team works. Guess what happened? Our business has doubled! Check out this YouTube video to get a detailed look at how we started the company.
Why opposites also attract in business life
People keep asking us: what is the magic of our partnership? To be honest, it’s all about respect. It took years of open communication. Now we’re in a place where we understand and respect the superpowers that each of our team members bring to the business. So we could reached a major milestone in our business last year.
While it’s easy to get lost in frustration with your team, especially if you have different styles of work, it’s important to remember that your differences can actually be beneficial. Frustration is inevitable. But we always tell our customers why they decided to start their own business.
It can take extra effort to communicate, build systems, and reevaluate the best way to structure your business. It all pays off at the end of the day because you can become your own boss.
How personality tests can get the most out of your team
If you want to work well with someone, especially a new member of your team, you need to know this How They work. That’s why we took one a few years ago CliftonStrengths rating. When we took out everything personal in order to best communicate, we were finally able to better understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
No surprise! My three strengths are Morgan’s three weaknesses and vice versa. Once we had this information, we could communicate more effectively. The personality test also made it clear that it was in the company’s best interests for Morgan to take on the role of CEO.
It’s not just about communicating with your team, though. Understanding your communication style can improve your relationship with your suppliers and potential customers. I cannot stress the power of personality tests enough.
When you need outside help
In conclusion, let’s talk about when you might need outside help. Many business owners find it difficult to understand this turning point. For me this turning point came when I realized that I was struggling with day-to-day business.
After taking the personality tests and having an honest conversation with Morgan, I knew putting her in the role of CEO was the best decision. Morgan has a systems and engineering background and she knew exactly how to apply that to the company.
If you are feeling overwhelmed with your business, take a breath first. Then think about the reasons why you are overwhelmed. As hard as it is to admit, sometimes feeling overwhelmed is a clear sign that you need outside help.
Document your week so that you better understand what to automate, delegate, and eliminate. That is the first thing you need to do to assess how to find outside help.
