Dietitian warns towards Australian TikTok pattern that sees dad and mom freeze uncooked eggs to make mini eggs
A nutritionist has warned of a new viral trend on TikTok where parents freeze raw eggs in their shells to make “mini eggs” for their children that she claimed could lead to salmonella.
Australian mom Alexandra shared a TikTok video that has been viewed more than 12.4 million times since then showing how she fried tiny eggs sunny side up for her little daughter to enjoy overnight after freezing.
However, U.S. registered nutritionist Sarah Krieger has warned parents to be vigilant when trying the trend at home as it could result in serious food poisoning if the eggs are not cooked thoroughly.
Mama Alexandra was the first to reveal how she made mini eggs after freezing them raw
“There are certain categories of people who shouldn’t have undercooked eggs because of the risk of salmonella poisoning,” Krieger told Fox News.
She said the most vulnerable children include pregnant women, the elderly, and those with previous illnesses.
To ensure that the eggs are completely cooked through, Ms. Krieger suggested that a “temperature control” be carried out.

Her warning comes just a week after mom Alexandra shared a “clever” trick in her now viral TikTok video that shows how she makes mini eggs that her toddler loves to eat.
“How to make cool eggs for your children in the morning. All you have to do is get an egg out of the refrigerator and put it in the freezer. In the morning you actually cut that into slices while it’s still frozen, ”she explained.
“Then you put them in a pan and that makes really cool mini eggs. My toddler absolutely loves it and I know your kids will too. Every parent must try this. ‘
Brisbane fitness queen Chontel Duncan was so impressed with the latest TikTok cooking method that she decided to recreate the mini fried egg for her toddler.
The personal trainer and mother of three said her son “loved” her.
“I tried these cute yummy eggs that I saw on TikTok,” she said on Instagram.
“It’s really fun to make eggs in the morning. First you freeze them, then peel them under some warm water. While they are still frozen, cut them into thin slices. ‘
After freezing the eggs overnight, she peeled the shell under warm water, cut it into slices and deep-fried the “mini eggs” for her child
Over medium to high heat, she placed the round slices in a pan with olive oil.
‘Season, finish and serve fresh or save for later.’
Her video has been viewed more than 640,000 times since then, and many say their minds “blown” after learning about the new egg hack.

But despite the positive comments, some were concerned and wondered if it was safe to freeze eggs after cooking.
According to Healthline, freezing raw eggs in the shells is not recommended by health professionals as it can change texture and lead to the growth of certain bacteria.
However, when this happens, the raw eggs should be cooked immediately at a high temperature of 70 degrees Celsius.
