Brief video app TikTok to re-enter India?

Hyderabad: After more than a year of being banned in India, the Chinese short video app TikTok could re-enter the country. While the parent company of TikTok ByteDance had registered a new brand for TickTock in July of this year, a new tip from tipster Mukul Sharma now suggests that it is indeed returning to India.

Sharma tweeted about the exclusive tip and tweeted, “TikTok (or TickTock) is actually returning to India. The supposed comeback could be delayed for a while. “

There was also no official statement from ByteDance in July of this year, and reports indicate that the company is interested in resuming operations in India following the introduction of new IT rules.

In January 2021, TikTok closed the store in India and laid off its 2,000 employees. With around 200 million monthly active users, India was the company’s largest international market for short video apps. The new IT rules have already resulted in the popular game platform PUBG Mobile for the Indian market being renamed BattleGrounds Mobile India. Similarly, another brand, Shein, has also returned to India via Amazon.

In addition to India, the app is also banned in Pakistan and Bangladesh, with Indonesia announcing a ban, but lifting it after a week. While the Trump administration in the US had signed orders to delete the platform from the app stores, the new administration under Biden lifted the ban.
