What’s the Duck Name Problem on TikTok? The newest pattern is delightfully unhinged
TikTok users are freaking out in the latest bizarre trend about duck noises.
Like so many other TikTok challenges, the Duck Call Challenge is not exactly what it seems. People on social media took the premise seriously and got it serious, with some fun and stark results.
What is the “Duck Call Challenge” on TikTok?
Back in December, TikToker Ethan Kirby posted a video using a duck caller, a device that mimics the sound of a duck when you blow into it.
“Please duet this if you’re better at blowing a duck call,” Kirby said before puffing into the device.

Kirby’s video was viewed 1.1 million times and many users took up its challenge. But it probably wasn’t quite what he’d imagined.
These are not your average duck calls.
Kirby just asked for better duck calls, he didn’t necessarily ask attendees to use the same method as him – so he got some unconventional answers.
User @bojangleseatin is a great example of some of the twists and turns these submissions can make.
“I remember how my hands are supposed to be,” @bojangleseatin said as he put his hands together and held them over his mouth.
However, it was a fake. “Come here ducky!” he said in a sweet voice.
Not everyone used their mouth to blow a duck call.
“That is a challenge?” the user @wizqueifa_ asked when she looked at the camera.
She took a few steps back and took a comfortable twerk position. Then @wizqueifa_ worked until she hit the gas repeatedly. The sound was bizarrely similar to Kirby’s original duck. The video was so funny that one user claimed she vomited.
“I’ve never been so unprepared in my life as in this video,” commented one user.
“Can I sign you up for America’s Got Talent,” joked another.
The story goes on
The drumming of TikToker @drewonthekit had an entirely different duck call in mind. He turned Kirby’s original sound into an alt-rock song that many have compared to the band Primus.
“Why does that hit so hard!” someone commented.
“Thought rage against the machine, but definitely prime,” wrote one person.
