Viral TikTok ‘reveals how 5 Guys fries are made’ – and clients are pleasantly shocked

A man revealed how the classic French fries from Five Guys are made – and customers are pleasantly surprised by the whole process.

TikToker Maez (@maezthegreat), who claims to work at the fast food chain, gave his followers a seemingly behind-the-scenes look at how the fries are cooked.

And people in general were shocked to see that the main ingredient in this process was … fresh potatoes (as opposed to frozen fries which are simply put in the deep fryer).

The video starts with Maez washing the real red-brown potatoes, which are then loaded into an automatic slicer where the vegetables are cut into strips.

After that, the strips go into a bucket of water before being poured into a sink, where they’re gently rotated, both to clean them and to remove excess starch, according to Maez.

The fries are then transported back into a bucket before being cooked in the deep fryer as usual. You can watch the full length TikTok video here.

In a second TikTok, Maez is shown grabbing “a handful” of french fries to put in the deep fryer, where they are cooked for about two minutes to give them their crispy consistency.

“Yes, we love to pre-cook our fries,” says the TikTok.

When the customer then orders french fries, a half-fried basket is placed in a new vat of oil and cooked for a few more minutes “for the last cooking process” until they are brown.

To prevent the fries from becoming too greasy, the frying basket is shaken 15 times to remove the oil. Maez then takes them to an elevated area where they are salted.

After that, they are ready to be served to a satisfied customer. You can watch the full length video here.

Since Maez posted these videos, he has received a total of 12.9 million views, with a total of over 2 million likes and thousands of comments with people sharing their surprise over the use of fresh potatoes.

One person wrote, “That is why it is expensive, because it is real food, to make money, to eat well.”

“The only restaurant I trust and that’s why,” said another person.

Another added, “Yes, it’s expensive, but you get what you pay for. It’s real food, unlike other places. “

“That’s why their fries are SLAPPIN,” commented a fourth person.

But Maez not only revealed french fries, but also revealed the secrets behind them. On TikTok he also showed how the thick Five Guys milkshakes are made.
