A baby’s first word is a momentous occasion for parents. It’s usually something like “mom” or “dada”. So imagine the shock of these parents when their newborn’s first few words sound like “okay bruv”.

Mom Carmen Bish said she was just “chilling” with her partner when the baby started talking.

“We didn’t even notice it at first! We showed the video to my parents and I thought I heard him say something so I played it again and we all burst out laughing. I can’t believe his first words were ‘okay bruv’! ”Bish told Indy100.

Bish has been encouraged to share the clip online. She notified TikTok and it went viral.

Since it was released on November 6, the clip has now had 2.1 million views. In the video, Bish joked that she “waited eight months for his first words to be ‘okay’, bruv”.

The video received over 34,000 likes and 4,400 comments at the time of publication.

Many TikTok users agreed that it was “the most British thing” they have ever seen, with one comment: “Tell me you’re British without telling me you’re British.”

Many users also called the baby a street man (which roughly means a British gangster or drug dealer).

One TikTok user said, “If our child’s first few words aren’t street-man words, we’ll throw them out of the house.”
