TikTok plans e-commerce drive – International Cosmetics Information
THAT WHAT? According to a report published by the Financial Times, TikTok is preparing to roll out a number of features on its website that will enable e-commerce and affiliate marketing this year.
THE DETAILS The Chinese video platform enables users to earn commissions on sales resulting from links they share, as well as providing livestream shopping features and targeted ads.
WHY? The Financial Times says the new features will allow the platform to pose a real threat to other social media giants like Facebook. TikTok’s ability to monetize its audience from young users is a dream for brands, 63 percent of those who use the platform regularly aren’t on Twitter and 40 percent don’t have a Facebook account.
