Shuffle, the app that desires to be the TikTok of podcasts

Shuffle is an app that allows you to edit audio clips from your favorite podcasts to share on social media. A clever way to highlight the best stories that often go unnoticed among the masses of audio content on different platforms.

How can we discover new podcasts? How can you recommend podcasts to your friends? The new application by Ada Yeo and Gilbert Leung aims to answer such questions.

“At Shuffle, we focus on helping people discover the best ideas and stories contained in long podcasts,” Yeo writes on the app blog.

To do this, you need to import your podcast libraries through your usual platforms like Spotify or Apple Podcast and then edit an audio clip that comes from the entire program you want to share. The app automatically generates subtitles and then offers to add text, pictures or background videos. In the end, you’ll end up with an audio file of up to a minute, perfect for sharing on social media.

The TikTok influence

A beta version of the app was released in July 2020. An extended public beta has been available in the App Store since October. The Android version announced on the app’s website is still under development. The beta user community allows developers to improve the functionality of the app and the user experience.

Shuffle has ambitions to become a social network. Some users have already compared it to the “TikTok for a podcast,” revealed Yeo Fast Company. “It’s a bit simple, but I would say the idea is there.”

The application offers a content feed on its homepage in which you can “scroll” through videos that have already been edited. The design is pretty similar to TikTok, as are the “Like”, “Comment”, and “Share” buttons. Even the tutorials on how to use Shuffle were made through TikTok. – AFP Relaxnews
