The place to search out the TikTok tacos in Higher Cincinnati

They can be found all over TikTok, and they’ll be all over Cincinnati this summer.

A popular Mexican street food, Birria Tacos went viral via the popular video-sharing app in late 2020. Now they are showing up in more local menus.

What are birria tacos?

Birria tacos have their origins in Jalisco, a Mexican state. They were originally cooked with goat meat, today beef, lamb and chicken are typical alternatives.

The tacos start with a stew called birria, made up of meat, vegetables, chillies, and spices. Corn or flour tortillas are then dipped into the birria before being sautéed in a pan, making them crispy. Stew meat, cheese and other taco toppings are added to the tortillas. Finally, the tacos can be soaked in leftover birria to soak up all of the flavor without it getting mushy.

Many TikTok users have shared recipe variations on the app. But for those who don’t have the time, talent, or energy to make them at home, here are 10 places to find birria tacos in the greater Cincinnati area:
