Police assessing ‘despicable’ racist rant on TikTok by white supremacist

TikTok user Kody Tree posted a video asking for help in identifying a possible white racist.

A TikTok user calls for help on the social media platform to identify a man behind some “hideous” racist gossip, and the police are investigating the case.

On the offensive, a young man in a cap and black T-shirt says he is white and claims that his superiority is “given”.

“Believe it or not, there are a lot more people out there just like me,” he said before performing a Nazi salute.

The man made other highly derogatory remarks about TikTok user Kody Tree’s viewers – which the Herald did not report.

Tree, who posted the video on social media, said the white racist was talking about Māori and urged other users to help name and shame him.

By Sunday afternoon, his post had received more than 328,000 likes and around 28,400 comments.

The Herald couldn’t reach Tree.

Racial Relations Officer Meng Foon told the Herald that the swear words were “despicable” behavior that could incite violence.

“There is no place in Aotearoa,” he said, calling on the public to report racist content to Netsafe.

Foon also said that TikTok must be responsible for the material that goes through its platform.

The police say they received a report on the video on Saturday evening and are evaluating the information provided.

Anyone who can identify the man is asked to call 105 and provide the file number 211127/3477.
