The Connecticut sisters became the boss of TikTok, Charli as a dancer and choreographer, Dixie as a singer and together a force to be reckoned with. Charli, known to have gained 1 million new followers in one night, became the most visited person on the app in November, topping 100 million after joining TikTok in July 2019. Dixie signed up on October 30, 2019 and as 2020 draws to a close, has 47 million.
“I grew up pretty quickly just because everyone was like, ‘Oh my god she has a sister, she has a sister!'” Dixie told The Face in January. “And I’m legal. Everyone said, ‘Oh, she’s 18. We can follow her.’
19-year-old Dixie made her acting debut on Brat TV’s Attaway General this year, released the song “Be Happy,” and interviewed her TikTok peers and more on her YouTube talk show of the same name
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Charli, who danced and drank a dunkin drink named after her in a Super Bowl commercial for Sabra Hummus (The Charli: cold brew with three pumps of caramel and whole milk), admitted that it was so public to a crash course that taught her how to deal with the sometimes hideous negativity she comes across online.
“There will be people who will hate you no matter what, because those are the kind of people they are,” she explained, “but there are so many more people who support you just because you are you. .. I’m trying to use the following that I made for myself to talk about important things, and there are more things coming soon that I would very much like to share with everyone, projects with charities, organizations, like one online negativity can help … “
She summed up her wisdom in her first book, essentially Charli: The Ultimate Guide to Keeping It Real, which came out in December. She and Dixie also host a podcast, Just 2 CHIX Podcasting, are the faces of Hollister’s Jean Lab, and have worked on the Morphe 2 makeup line.
