Cape Town’s Milnerton High School is the last to fall victim to a fake TikTok account posting racist messages under its banner.
Nearby Table View High School had to deal with a similar incident last year, which it reported to police.
Milnerton High School says it doesn’t have a TikTok account.
It has asked people to help report the scammer account to TikTok so that it can be shut down.

In an urgent announcement on their Facebook page during the school holidays, Milnerton High School said, “We’d like to thank all of the affected learners, parents and community members who brought our attention to the TikTok profile, which uses our school’s name and badge .
“Please note that Milnerton High School does not have a TikTok account. We COMPLETELY distance ourselves from this TikTok account and are in no way affiliated with the profile.”
It said that it strongly opposes and condemns all content posted by the profile.
“We are urgently investigating and investigating who created the profile.”
The school said it can’t remove the profile either because it didn’t create it, and encouraged people to report the account to TikTok to help remove it.
People have been asked not to bother with the account in any way, and anyone with information about the origin of the account should send an email to prportfolio@milnertonhigh.co.za.
The Western Cape Department of Education was aware of the latest developments at Milnerton High School.
“It is unacceptable for people to intentionally and maliciously fake a report on the school to create unrest and racial tension,” said spokesman Bronagh Hammond.
In November, Table View High School announced the account attempted to use the school’s name and impersonate a 15-year-old student.
The impersonated student’s parents handed their phones over to the police. The school said it would also use an attorney to contact TikTok and remove the content.
