This mother normalizes body talk by teaching her 6 year old to menstruate.

Shug CM (who also works with @lackofimpulsecontrol at TikTok) is a mother of three who wants to talk to her children about physical behavior and functions in a gender-neutral and non-judgmental way. This way your little ones know what to expect as they get older and help their elders understand what is going on in real time.

One of Shug’s most popular videos – with more than 4.3 million views – shows her discussing menstruation in a casual and age-appropriate manner with her 6 year old.

“What happens in a uterus every month?” Shug asks on the video.

Her 6 year old replies, “It’s like, ‘Oh! I am going to have a baby! I will decorate! ‘”

“And how does it decorate?” asks Shug.

“It decorates itself and puts on some handkerchiefs,” says the young student.

“Tissue on the walls,” confirms Shug. “Are they nutrient-rich? Are they the perfect place for a baby to grow? “Asks the mom mentor.

“Yes,” says her child.

“And what happens then?” asks Shug.

“And then when it finds out it’s not us [pregnant]It’s like ‘Ugh. Good, ”replies the 6-year-old with amazing voice output skills.

Shug repeats, “Find out we don’t put a baby in it and say, ‘FINE.’ And what does it do? “

“It tears everything up,” replies the eager student.

“And it comes out as …” Shug leads.

“Blood,” replies the 6-year-old.

Then Shug ends the video with a bonus question.

“What happens when a baby goes in there? It … “

“Growing,” says the child without hesitation.

Spreading talk about menstruation is the way to go, according to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Continuous education about the human body helps prevent children from feeling overwhelmed by puberty in this case. So Shug is on the right track!

Viewers flooded the commentary area with praise for Shug’s explanation of menstruation.

“This has to be the best explanation of how a period works,” one wrote.

“That’s such an age-appropriate way of explaining it! I love it, ”wrote another.

The story goes on

Shug also noted in her caption that menstruation shouldn’t be gender specific.

“Normalize body functions with your children. It is important. Also: menstruating the uterus, not genders. “

People liked the video so much that they asked Shug to explain other topics.

“I like that. Explain how a baby gets in there? I asked for my own reference for my kids,” one commenter asked, to which Shug replied, “Yup! We’ll be making a video of that too,” to probably relief more than a couple of parents.
