Tinley Park High School administrators said Sunday that they were “extremely disappointed” with a social media video showing students and perhaps even some staff showing their phones almost as if the phones were guns.

The school said the staff did not know what they were being filmed for.

In a statement, Tinley Park High School said:

“We were very disappointed when we saw this video. One of our students decided to mislead staff and possibly some students into being part of this video.

We are currently taking this video very seriously and are investing the situation. We will have further discussions with those involved and there will be consequences. As we understand it, this video is the result of a TikTok challenge in which a student misleads individuals as to the purpose and content of the video.

It is extremely disheartening that our students find this content or prank humorous. It is even more sad that a student chooses to mislead staff who are there to support them and help them every day. This video is not funny. “
