MINT HILL, NC – A TikTok video of a children’s themed adult birthday party in Mint Hill has gone viral and has garnered more than 1.2 million views.
Scott and Tim Taube were born just one year apart and have been celebrating their birthdays together for a long time. Every year her mother Debi had a more creative theme than the last.
“We’d be doing soda scavenger hunts and buried treasure,” laughed Debi. “It was more difficult back then because there was no internet. You didn’t have Pinterest and actually had to look for supplies. “
After Scott moved out of the state, Debi said her boys haven’t partied together in a while. When she got the news last week that he was going to be in town for his birthday, she said the boys had asked her to plan a party like the good old days.
“We called some of our old friends who we hadn’t seen in a while who’d been on some of the topics and when I told them about it, of course they were all there,” said Tim, who was turning 38 . Birthday.
Tim said he was surprised to come home last Saturday to see a large bobcat outside his house. There were dump trucks in the house with french fries, a cake with a backhoe loader, and balloons. Then his mother announced that they would drive Bobcat races.
“Like any of the 30-year-olds who were there, acted like a 10-year-old,” said Debi. “They all had big silly grins on their faces so it was worth it, it was great.” “”
Debi said it was something she badly needed to see her children happy together again. Just two days before the party, Debi announced her own resignation.
“I have to be under too much stress, especially in the past year and a half coupled with everything else,” she said. “And so I retired and the party was like the first really fun thing after retirement and I needed it. It was great. It was fun.”
The video posted by Tim’s brother Scott has now been viewed more than 1.2 million times.
“I think it’s very cool and the comments were really sweet and it was nice to have that feedback. You know something positive because there has been so little of it lately. “Said Debi.
“It’s wild,” said Tim, describing how he had to borrow his daughter’s phone to get on TikTok and watch the viral videos.
All of this, a reminder that you are never too old to let mom plan your birthday party.
