Former content material moderator sues TikTok, claims it triggered PTSD
(CNN) – A former contractor claims that he developed a PTSD while working for TikTok.
Candie Frazier is suing the social media platform and its parent company ByteDance.
Frazier said she worked as a content host on the platform, spending 12-hour days reviewing disturbing videos, including those depicting graphic violence against children and animals.
She said the company failed to provide adequate protection or psychological support to the moderators.
Frazier said the work caused her anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
TikTok did not want to comment on the lawsuit, but in a statement the company said it is “expanding a number of wellness services to help presenters feel mentally and emotionally supported.”
