DSU in line for Longwood Basis, Tik Tok grants | The Newest from WDEL Information

Delaware State University receives US $ 2,000,000.00 in grants to support the Wesley College acquisition and recruitment of students interested in health-related careers.

US $ 1,000,000 from the Longwood Foundation is earmarked for transition costs to help DSU take over Wesley, including staff costs and curriculum adjustments for the two schools.

The DSU announced a plan to acquire Wesley in July last year. The transaction is expected to close by July until the terms of the DSU are met, including accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The state of Delaware is also donating $ 1,000,000 from the company behind the Tik Tok China video sharing app to attract students from so-called “underrepresented” races to careers in medicine and other health-related fields.

The money is part of the fund called “Health Heroes Relief Fund” by Tik Tok, which among other things promotes coronavirus tests on the DSU campus in Dover.
