Charli D’Amelio Speaks out on Her Education State of affairs Amid TikTok Success, Pandemic
TikTok star Charli D’Amelio may be a social media superstar during the day, but she also needs to find some time to do her schoolwork. It’s not easy, especially during the coronavirus pandemic when most of the learning is still done virtually. In a new interview on David Dobrik’s YouTube channel Views, the 16-year-old explained how difficult it is to get her job done and continue to create videos for her legions of fans.
Charli’s sister, Dixie D’Amelio, 19, said she had already graduated from high school, but Charli is still in school. When asked about the situation, Charli jokingly asked the host if he wanted the answer her parents want everyone to hear, or the actual answer. “I’m working a lot right now, so it’s obviously difficult to fit everything in,” she said when she burst out laughing. However, Charli seriously admitted that she “failed every class”.
“It’s not my fault,” said Charli. “I thought it was like a flexible school where I don’t … I have an extreme curriculum, so it’s six classes a day and I …” “But that’s normal,” Dixie cut in. “Me also work full-time! ” Charli reminded her. “So we’re figuring out the new school thing, but I’ve really, really tried hard and things are a bit ahead of me, like most kids doing online school right now.” Charli later stated that she had to take a virtual physical education class, which really confused the hosts. “I have to make demands on PE, but like no one is watching,” she said.
Elsewhere in the sisters’ interview with Dobrick, Charli explained how their new book Essentially Charli was written. She admitted working with a ghostwriter who helped put her thoughts into book form. “I said the words, she wrote it down and then she put it in book form … It took a couple of days and I was like talking and she would ask me questions,” explained Charli. Dobrik had her back and noticed that so many such books were written by celebrities. “It’s really good because then you can get all of your thoughts out and they just pick it up and write it down,” said Dobrick.
The D’Amelio sisters are two of the biggest stars on TikTok and are soon to bring their lives to Hulu. In December, Hulu and D’Amelio’s sister’s father, Marc D’Amelio, announced the D’Amelio show, which will follow the family as it balances social media fame with family values. “We’re excited to join the Hulu family with a unique behind-the-scenes look at our lives,” Marc said in a statement. “We have always been a very close family, but this experience has brought us even closer and we are very happy to share an insight into our life with the world. Many people create impressions of us based on short content, a few minutes or even seconds. But now we’re excited to share a page you probably won’t see on our social channels. “
