Centre’s tips for social media, OTT platforms have ‘no tooth’: SC | India Information

NEW DELHI: The guidelines of the center for the regulation of social media and OTT platforms have no “teeth,” the Supreme Court said on Tuesday.
The Apex court stated that the new rules do not include law enforcement and asked the center to consider introducing a law rather than just guidelines.
The Supreme Court granted Amazon Prime Video Indian director Aparna Purohit early bail in connection with FIRs filed through the web series “Tandav” and asked her to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
The Supreme Court on Thursday backed the demand for “screening” of content broadcast on OTT platforms such as Ntflix and Amazon Prime because some of the shows contained “pornography”.
