Centre to deliver stricter pointers for social media giants; laws to empower customers

The central government will introduce new regulations for social media intermediaries that will include both giants and short-service apps. There will also be a policy to check users as well. Government sources have claimed these regulations will empower social media users. The new rules also apply to Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. The news comes after there has been a delay since Twitter ended the suspension of multiple accounts that leaked the misinformation during the farmers’ protest. On the other hand, Facebook has argued with the Australian government and now the citizens of Australia cannot share the news via the social media giant.
