My CEO Morgan and I are always interested in how online business owners actually hit the $ 1 million mark. We suspect you are curious too.
After eight years in the business, Morgan and I have finally reached this milestone in our business. That’s true! This year we’ve had sales of over a million dollars … Profitability! Sure, some people don’t like to discuss how their business is doing. But we don’t want to keep this secret to ourselves. Ultimately, we want every business owner to reach this milestone.

Keep reading this blog post to discover our top four tips that have helped us reach this milestone in our business.

# 1 How We Made a Million Dollars: Simplifying Our Business For Bigger Results

First of all, you need to simplify your business. Right now, after 8 years in businessWe actually offer fewer products than ever before. That doesn’t seem intuitive, does it? But surprise, we’re actually making more money than ever before.

We found we spent a lot of time starting projects from scratch. Instead, let’s rinse and repeat our best products now. We made some small changes to the branding or marketing. But that’s it. This enables us to build on our existing products so that they can better serve our customers.

For example, our Instagram ™ PRO course and our individual coaching program are around a year and a half old. We have now sold it in 11 different ways. Yes, it’s the same product, but we’ve had an opportunity to refine the news. Now we have more PRO customers than ever and our customers are seeing tremendous results.

Not only do our clients learn a lot from our PRO course, but we can also focus more on the client experience as we are not working on new projects. This was an important linchpin for our business in 2019, but it laid the foundation for a successful 2020.

# 2 How We Made a Million Dollars: Saying NO will help you grow

As an entrepreneur, “no” feels like the word we can’t say. Especially when you are Start your businessYou feel like you have to say yes to every opportunity. Spoiler alert: you don’t!

Last year we said to some great partners. Trust me, it was a really tough decision.

But as Morgan reminded the SBZ team, it was a chance to even say “no” to these partners. It was an opportunity for our team to focus on developing better programs and serving our customers.

If something doesn’t feel right to your company, especially if it doesn’t align with your values, don’t be afraid to say “no”. It may be difficult in the short term, but you’ll be glad you continued to focus on growing your business.

# 3 How We Made a Million Dollars: Finding the Right Support

Let’s face it, being an entrepreneur can be really lonely. You are doing everything to grow your business and some days it seems like you are not growing at all. Worse still, sometimes you have had a rough season and don’t know what to do next.

That’s why we always encourage our customers to build a strong support network. It has been instrumental in helping our business grow profitably.

Even now, after we hit our $ 1 million goal, we rely on outside coaches and consultants to help us grow. While you may feel like you know your business better than anyone, sometimes an outsider’s perspective can help you spot the weaknesses that you are missing.

We strongly believe that if you want to achieve business success, you need to surround yourself with coaches and people who fill in the gaps.

# 4 How We Made a Million Dollars: Final Tip

Do you remember when we told you it was okay to say “no”? Here is something that you can absolutely say no to when you start your business. You probably wouldn’t have guessed it.

It’s okay to say no to custom logos or expensive branding.

That’s true! This may not seem intuitive, especially since a branded look is one of the first ways you can create recognition for your business. But the truth is that fancy branding is expensive, time consuming, and not required to start a business.

How do I know that logos and branding are really important to new business owners? Because it’s the first question they always ask us. But we learned the hard way. After spending a lot of time and money on a logo we didn’t like, we spent most of 2015-2018 without a logo.

Instead, we used a simple “SBZ” logo and a new font for all of our materials. Even without fancy branding, we built the business into the six-figure range, hired a team and sold more products than ever before.

Don’t waste your time digging into what other people are doing with their businesses, including fancy branding. Instead, Focus this energy on adding value to your customers and have conversations on Instagram ™.
