Airline passenger shares argument over window on TikTok, however will get referred to as out for her personal conduct
Not everyone agrees on whether or not to keep airplane shutters up or down during flight.
Some people like it when the shadow is high so they can see where they are going, others like it when the window is blocked so that bright light from outside cannot shine into the plane.
Will Mantey is from the previous group. But the woman sitting behind him came from the latter.
Mantey recently re-uploaded footage of himself arguing with a woman on his flight after discovering the woman filmed the argument and uploaded it to social media. The video shows the woman trying to force the passenger (Mantey) sitting in front of her to close the window shadow next to his seat.

After Mantey found the video, he posted it on TikTok and confirmed that he was the man sitting in front of the woman. He did not share her original TikTok information.
The footage from the woman’s point of view shows her asking Mantey if he could just hold the window shadow down next to him, but he says he wants to. She says she is trying to sleep, but Mantey replies that he likes to see where he is going.

The woman then presses the call button for the flight attendant. The two continue arguing over the window and the woman reaches forward again to pull the shadow down. At some point, Mantey sticks his hand back behind his seat and tells her to tell him not to touch it and then to tell him he has just committed an “attack”.
The video has been viewed over 4.2 million times.
Many of the comments seemed to defend Mantey. One user wrote, “This is your window. You paid for the seat. I think you handled this the best you could.”
Another user wrote, “If she wanted to sleep that bad, she could have just brought an eye mask.”
Many commentators called on the woman because she claimed Mantey didn’t own the plane because she didn’t, and she couldn’t force others to pull down their shutters.

After the video went viral, Mantey posted an update explaining that the incident happened while he was flying to Colorado to visit his parents for Christmas. He claims that a flight attendant later responded and offered the woman an eye mask, but she declined because she didn’t like the “feel”. She was then back in the back of the plane despite “complaining all the time”.
“And that was the last time I saw her,” said Mantey. “I had a good rest of the flight.”
